Ashill Village Day - July 21st

The village is coming together in a day of fun-packed events to celebrate all things Ashill!

Starting at 10am and finishing when the music and drinks stop flowing sometime late in the night, here’s the timetable of events to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

10amAshill Crufts - in the field next to the village hall . A chance to show off  your four legged friend.

Categories include: 

  • Waggiest Tail

  • Dog that looks most like its owner

  • Best trick

  • Most obedient

  • Least obedient

  • Hairiest hound

  • Dog the judge would most like to take home


1pmVillage Roundersin the field next to the village hall . All ages and abilities welcome! 

Come and play, watch and laugh as the village joins together in a game of rounders.


2pm – 5pmFace painting at the Village Hall . Kids and big kids welcome :)


3.30 -5pmAshill Soapbox Derby 

Prizes for the fastest and best decorated Kart. Join the daring downhill run or come along and cheer on the Karts from anywhere along the course. Favorite spectator zones include the pub carpark as the Karts race around the bend and by the Village Hall to watch the fast downhill final run. See map below for route. 

Karts to meet at the start area (junction with Batts Park) at 3.15pm where you will need to sign  a registration form and assemble ready for the race. 

We will do a kids ride on non-race at the end of the soap box Derby – no rules for this one just an opportunity for kids to have a go and join in on their own like trikes with parents welcome to run down alongside them. 

Please note – the road from the junction with Batts Park down to the Village Hall will be closed from 3-5pm for the safety of the soapbox Derby and parking is not permitted along the route during this time.

5.30pm Soapbox Trophy presentation at the Village Hall 


6pmHog Roast at the Village Hall.

IMPORTANT! In the past, when we've had a hog roast with live music at the Village Hall, villagers have sometimes missed out due to its popularity. 

So, this year, we are selling pre-order tickets to villagers and other people who support our events. Unless it's already a sell-out, you will also be able to buy your hog roast on the day.

6.30pm - Live Music from Ian and Scott from the Sweet Black Angels  at the Village Hall


Bouncy castle in the play park at the Village Hall throughout the day.
